"FLORAL FANTASY" - 34” x 38 1/2”
I think of a simpler time. I recall sitting in church on Mother’s Day
with a red carnation. Only after loosing my Mother that I realized the true
meaning of that flower. This quilt honors her memory. The center has 7
stemmed flowers in a 9-patch basket. The center has 24 9-patch. I used 1 new
product, Hotfix Adhesive. The hardest part was carefully, using tweezers, to
remove the tear away stabilizer. One of the most challenging was the free
motion quilting but traditionally I have always been able to position the
quilt on my long arm parallel to the bar and quilt side to side, this had to
quilted at an angle. Pattern from Deb McDonald, Quilters Newsletter,
Magazine’s Quilt it, More 9 Patch Favorites, 2006

"FIRE STAR" - 48" X 48"
Fire Star is a partial Lone Star pattern by Zen Chic/Brigitte Heitland. One
of the things I think about the color red is exploding stars. This is my
interpretations of an exploding star shining brightly. As with all lone star
quilts the piecing must be very precise so it lays flat. While not quite
unusual it was worth mentioning. The construction of the quilt made it a
“filler” lone star that was then cut off on the side and bottom, creating a
more visually striking quilt.

"IN THE WOODS" - 37.5" x 45.5"
In the Woods is a collection of red foxes, When I was thinking about what
red means to me was a little while after I had seen a red fox in a group of
trees. The fox was beautiful and my inspiration for this quilt. The pattern,
“Among the Birches” is by Lorna McMahon / Sew Fresh Quilts. The pattern, was
all pieced and not paper pieced, requiring close attention to dealing with
very small pieces.

"TUMBLE, TUMBLE, CATCH"
38 3/4” x 44 3/4”
Using a traditional tumbling block design, I created my interpretation
of “Orange Chasing Red” I have been waiting for a chance to use many of my
Quilters Treasure fabrics and this was it! All the fabric except the very
dark black came from my collection. This quilt was hand pieced and hand
quilted during the many hours of staying home during Covid-19 in 2020.
